Brass Submarine Model
Maker unknown
Brass, Wood
Brass submarine model rimmed with scarlet and white enameling on a mahoganey plank. Model shows the top portion of the submarine, or what would be visible if the submarine came to the surface of the ocean. Shows a mastpole, periscope, and hatch platform, on whose body is etched “A7.” This may refer to the HMS A7, an A-class Royal Navy submarine launched in 1905 that was lost with all hands during a training exercise in 1914.
