Half-hull Ship Model
This half-hull model depicts the steam cargo ship Nicholas Cuneo. Model is carved in wood and painted, with small metal attachments and details, mounted on a mahoganey plank. The ship is portrayed to scale of a 1/4 inch per foot.
Built in 1907, the Nicholas Cuneo operated for Norwegian companies Avance D/S, Skibs-D/S Aramis, and lastly L.A. Larsen until she was sold to the Honduran government in 1939. In July 1942 she was torpedoed by U-571 and sank.
