Steamship Queen Mary, Cunard White Star Line

Poster for Cunard White Star Line portraying the steamship Queen Mary with small recreational and pleasure craft in the foreground. The ship is portrayed as exceptionally imposing. The reproduced painting was done by artist William McDowell, whose signature is in the lower left of the image. The Queen Mary was launched in 1934, the same year that the two British companies, Cunard and White Star, merged due to financial hardships. The ship wears Cunard’s colors on her funnels, reflecting their majority ownership of the vessel.
