Steamships Majestic and Teutonic, White Star Line

Lithograph portraying a White Star Line sailing rigged steamship underway in profile, a dual advertisement published by Knapp & Co. for the line’s ships Majestic and Teutonic. Includes information about the ships, ports of call, and agents.  The Tuetonic was built in 1889, the first armed merchant cruiser. The Majestic was built in 1890, and was a reserve vessel until the Titanic disaster, after which she was brought back into service. Both vessels were very fast for their day and set speed records on their north Atlantic routes. Note that the illustration of the vessel includes sails and rigging.
