USS Olympia with portraits, autographs of Admiral George Dewey, Captain Charles Vernon Gridley

Commemorative photograph of the battleship USS OLYMPIA with photos of Admiral George Dewey and Captain Charles Vernon Gridley, referring to the Battle of Manila Bay in Philippines. The battle was the first engagement of the Spanish-American War (April-August 1898), in which the Spanish fleet was destroyed. A quote is framed above the ship portrait: a version of the famous phrase stated by Dewey to Gridley to begin the bombardment of the Spanish fleet.
